Jean Welles Worship Guitar Class

I added a new entry to My Links at the left.  Last week I ordered Worship Guitar Class videos from Jean Wells and put the link here on my site.   The videos I ordered are for six-string guitar although piano and voice are also available.  (My primary instrument is bass.) The course looks very interesting and is well-recommended.  She does have a nice affiliate program.

My elderly mother used to love to sing and we did the free sample lesson several times and she sang-along and loved it. That encouraged me to order the tapes.

The lessons should give me some special times with my mother.  She doesn't remember from one day to the next so we will be able to repeat lessons without her getting bored.  Watch for updates on my progress!

The lessons are great for learning (or improving) guitar skills and drawing close to God. Jean has suggestions for starting a local worship guitar class using her materials. I am considering starting a class for a backyard summer project (guitars sound better outdoors!).

Dumbing Down of Christianity

There has been a lot of dialog recently about dumbing down of the salvation message. Perhaps this is in response to so many churches being closed for the holiday (Christmas). It clearly is evidence of the Church Growth Movement (CGM) and it saddens my hearts greatly.

Be sure you are in a church that teaches the 4 R's (Recognition, Repentance, Reconciliation and Rejoicing) and not the 4 F's (Food, Fun, Fellowship, and Family).

Read your bible daily, spend time in prayer, and ask God for discernment.

Convergence Of Worshippers

While usually when I think about the resurgence of worship, I typically think of John Wimber, Integrity Music, Darlene Zchech, Vineyard Music, Ron Kenoly, etc, I recently found a nice resource at the Kentucky Baptist Convention website.

The Kentucky Baptist Convention is an older, established organization with a lot of tradition.

They sponsor a KBC Worship Stream Blog at their site. The initial entry discusses The Convergence Of Worshipers

The blog is well worth a read. It added to my understanding of worship AND convergence. It is refreshing and exciting to see the Lord working in so many places
